Bowls News & Results

On Saturday the club had its Triples Competition Day which was played in bright sunshine once again. The day was fantastically well organised by James & Roy and the green played really well. There were lots of smiling faces on the green and everyone seemed to have a great time. Well done to all those who were successful in reaching club finals day 🏆

On Sunday the club visited Sele Farm and managed to win a very close match by 68-67 overall (well done Allan Budge for counting those shots so carefully 😃). Top Rink was won by Maureen Foulser, Gary Tanser & Colin Avery.

Bad luck to the Men's County League Team who lost a close match in the semi-final against Harpenden on their own green, on Sunday. They did however bounce back well in the afternoon to beat Potters Bar and secure the magnificent 3rd place Trophy (The picture below is to scale, so thank you to Gordon Frost for collecting it 😂🏆).
This coming weekend there are three sets of finals being played. On Saturday the St Albans & District Bowls Association Finals at Potters Bar, Tony Seeby, Reg Collins & Keith Ames play in the Triples Final in the morning. In the afternoon Linda Kilmister, Sally West, Bob West & Steven Roach play in the Stockman Winser Mixed Fours Final.

On Sunday is the East Herts Bowls League Finals Day at Ware. In the afternoon there is an all WGC clash in the Triples Final when Carl Parkhouse, Tony Stickland & Rob Edwards play against Gordon Frost, Ian Stone & Les Brown. The men's team also defend the Ranson Cup when they play against Cheshunt in the afternoon.

Also on Sunday is the St Albans & District Ladies Bowls Association Finals at Batchwood Hall, Rita Wilsmore will play in the Officers Singles Final during the afternoon.

Good luck to everybody who is playing in these finals.

The Welwyn Hatfield Bowls League Finals will now take place at King George V Playing Fields in WGC on Saturday 15th September. I will include a full update on the finals programme in next weeks update as there are many WGC bowlers involved in the finals.
